Visa-DED Security Week Helps Consumers Understand Their Role in Securing Digital Commerce in the UAE
Your fears about online shopping could be well-founded – maybe you have seen someone who’s been ripped off while shopping online. With a few easy-to-follow security measures, you can increase the safety of your experiences while accessing the ease and convenience of online shopping.
Security Week, which has kicked off on 25 June 2018, is part of Visa’s ongoing efforts to provide consumers with the tools to help them identify and prevent potential fraud. Visa’s Security Week, in partnership with Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, promotes safe card usage and protection against digital payment-related frauds, both in-store and online. This will support a strong retail industry in the UAE as well as ensure a secure payments ecosystem for all.
Since security is the top priority here at PAYFORT and our aim is to protect and secure online shoppers, we are glad to be supporting this successful initiative in partnership between DED and Visa for the third year.
As digital payments usage continues to grow, two-thirds of shoppers now trust online payments and many have become frequent users of new tech (contactless cards and digital wallets) once they’ve tried it, according to Visa’s survey on digital payments in the UAE.
Visa’s survey provides insights on how retailers can reassure consumers regarding security and thus encourage them to shop with the confidence that they’re protected from fraud. For example, dynamic, one-time passwords (OTPs) were the number one choice for consumers when it comes to steps retailers can take to encourage digital purchases. Visa partners with retailers to adopt Verified by Visa, an authentication protocol for shoppers that uses OTPs to ensure payments are made by the rightful owner of the Visa account.
