It’s just 6 days until one of the Middle East’s very best conferences, ArabNet Beirut. And at Payfort we are getting ready to turn that out of office on and hop on a plane to beautiful Lebanon!
ArabNet is a huge conference with thousands of delegates and a long list of speakers and events; it’s just not possible to see everything. So we thought we’d dig into our collective memory of last year’s conference to highlight three can’t miss elements of this year’s event.
At Payfort we love startups and work closely with many emerging companies throughout the region. We recently profiled a new site called Sawerly who cut their teeth heading from one startup competition to the next.
With that in mind we are very excited to see what comes out of this year’s Startup Demo where freshly minted firms will get a chance to pitch their ideas to the assembled masses of investors, creators and industry leaders.
ArabNet just announced the finalists for the competition and it’s an intriguing bunch headlined by Yellow, a Bitcoin payments company, and ShopShopMe, a shopping aggregator.
Taste of Beirut was without a doubt the highlight of last year’s conference. This year it’s scheduled for Wednesday the 18th and will feature food, entertainment and cocktails.
The main attraction of course is the networking as food and a friendly atmosphere is an effective way to break down barriers and tease a business card out of even the most timid delegate.
So if you are heading to ArabNet to do business don’t miss out on the Taste of Beirut which starts at 8.30pm on Wednesday in Beirut Digital District.
ArabNet Beirut is really all about the sessions. A collection of the Middle East’s best and brightest are tabbed as speakers and ready to pass on their knowledge about all things digital. This leads to game changing insights, after session conversations and of course friendly hashtag debates via Twitter.
If you are heading to ArabNet be sure to come say hi. The Payfort stand will be up and running so come found us!
